Is this a form of therapy?
No, it is not. Although I have a degree in psychology I am not a psychologist.
Is this a service for children with severe behavioral problems? This is a service for families with children who are looking to improve the quality of communication and interaction in their home. I work with families whose children range from displaying typical, age-appropriate behavioral challenges that parents want to address pro-actively, to those who are showing moderate to higher levels of emotional or behavioral difficulty. However, if a child is presenting more acute behavioral or emotional issues I recommend parents speak to a physician and/or seek a therapist.
Do you work with children who have special needs?
It depends on the nature and degree of your child’s diagnosis, and on what other services your child is receiving.
How much time will you spend with my family?
After an observation period (two-four hours), two or three six-hour days are the minimum necessary to integrate the new techniques and skills into your routine. Of course, as with anything, the more time and effort you commit, the better it works.
How important is it for my spouse to be present?
It is very important for both parents to be available for this process. While it may not be possible for you both to be present at all times, the more you are there, the more completely and effectively the techniques can be learned and understood.
Can you come in the evenings and on weekends?
Yes, I try to accommodate your schedule as much as possible.
